Collegiate School is profoundly grateful for the generosity and loyalty of our alumni, parents, parents of alumni, grandparents, faculty, and staff.  To maintain its commitment to excellence in education, Collegiate depends on several fundraising efforts, which are carried out in the spirit of fostering our community and with a focus on achieving broad-based support and high participation levels. We are deeply thankful for the gifts of time, talent, and resources given by so many in our community; these individuals provide vital resources to our faculty, students, and the many programs Collegiate offers to our students. Collegiate School is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization, and donations are tax deductible to extent allowed by law.

Ways to Offer Your Support:

List of 5 items.

  • Annual Fund

Each fall, we launch the Annual Fund, an appeal to the entire Collegiate community for contributions that supplement the School’s yearly operating budget. The Annual Fund supports faculty salaries and financial assistance, as well as provides funds for programmatic needs such as athletic uniforms and teaching supplies. Tuition covers only a part of the cost of educating each student at Collegiate; endowment income and unrestricted Annual Fund support make up the difference. The annual gap of approximately $10,000 per student between tuition revenue and the actual cost of educating each student highlights the importance of the Annual Fund. The generosity of the Collegiate community enabled us to raise nearly $4 million last year with gifts ranging from $5 to $50,000 and up. Furthermore, we are thrilled to report that family participation over the past ten years has ranged between 75 to 100% and alumni participation has ranged between 27 to 35%. A contribution of any amount is greatly appreciated and is an expression of support for the ongoing work of the School. The 2021-2022 Annual Fund begins in the Fall of 2021 and closes on June 30, 2022. Gifts must be received by June 30, 2022 to receive credit for the 2021-2022 Annual Fund. For further information, please contact Severn Taylor, Director of Annual Giving and Stewardship, in the Development Office, (212-812-8786 or staylor@collegiateschool.org).
  • Senior Class Gift

For several decades, senior class families have generously funded a Senior Class Gift in recognition of their sons’ Collegiate experience. Each year, families of the graduating class are asked to contribute to the Senior Class Gift. The Senior Class Gift effort supports a specific purpose that honors the graduates while also creating a meaningful, long-lasting legacy from the graduating class to the School. While senior families are not solicited for the Annual Fund, all contributions to the Senior Gift will be credited to the 2021-2022 Annual Fund for participation purposes. For further information, please contact Severn Taylor, Director of Annual Giving and Stewardship, in the Development Office, (212-812-8786 or staylor@collegiateschool.org).
  • Collegiate Benefit

Each spring, the School, in conjunction with the Parents Association, holds a Benefit. All of the funds raised by this event directly support the financial aid program, allowing Collegiate to remain accessible to families regardless of their socio-economic status. Last year, Collegiate raised over $500,000 for financial aid through ticket sales (ticket prices start at $200) and underwriting donations (ranging from $2,500 to $25,000). This event displays the warmth and vitality of Collegiate by bringing together various members of the community, including parents, past parents, and alumni. For further information, please contact Ashley Roosa, Director of Parent Relations and Special Events, in the Development Office, (212) 812-8550.
  • The Wilson Parkhill Society - Planned Giving

Those in the Collegiate community who have remembered the School when making testamentary arrangements become members of The Wilson Parkhill Society. Headmaster of Collegiate from 1934 to 1959, Wilson Parkhill was crucial to the School’s survival during very rough economic times and war; he steered Collegiate on a steady course through the turbulent times. Including Collegiate in your estate planning helps to make the School’s future and the perpetuation of its ideals more certain. For further information, please contact Heather Truscinski, Director of Development, in the Development Office, (212) 812-8740.
  • Endowed Funds

A gift to Collegiate’s endowment is a gift in perpetuity. Your gift will be invested in Collegiate’s endowment, adding to its principal, and the income generated will be directed toward the donor’s designated purpose. Collegiate’s endowed funds currently support financial aid, faculty salaries, named lecture series, and faculty professional development; income from our endowment is also used for program support. In addition, some donors to Collegiate’s endowment have given unrestricted funds, indicating that income may be used for whatever purpose is most pressing. For further information, please contact Heather Truscinski, Director of Development, in the Development Office, (212) 812-8740.
