We are so delighted you are considering applying to Collegiate’s Upper School for your son. New students are admitted into Grade 9 annually. Please see below the steps required for completing your application for admission. Applicants to Grade 9 can begin the application process immediately. Applicants to non-entry Grades 10, 11, and 12 may proceed with submitting the application, applicant work sample, and parent copies of the two previous years' report cards. We will be in touch if any potential openings occur in these non-entry grades and we are able to offer the complete application process.

Application Checklist

Step 1 – Submit Your Application

Please submit your application, optional photo, and child’s work sample by November 15, 2024, and keep a copy for your files. We would very much appreciate an authentic piece of work by your child. It could be a self portrait, a poem, a writing sample, a school assignment that your child is proud of, or a photograph of your child in action pursuing his passions and interests. Please note that the work sample should be an image or text document. We are not able to accept videos, our file formatting will not support any videos.

Step 2 – Testing

Step 3 – School Report and Recommendations

Information is available via the application portal.

School Report

Please request an official transcript from your child’s current school. In order to help us know the student, please provide our office with parent copies of the two previous years' report cards if they are not included in the transcript. The School Report must be received no later than January 6, 2025, in order for your application to be complete.

Two Recommendations

The school needs two current recommendations for your son, one from an English teacher and one from a math teacher by January 6, 2025 in order for your application to be complete.

Step 4 – Required In-Person Applicant Visit and Virtual Parent Interview

Grade 9 only: The Office of Admissions and Enrollment will contact you to schedule both required appointments after an application is on file. We encourage you to submit an application at your earliest convenience.

In-Person Applicant Visit: Applicants will be invited to join teachers and members of the Admissions team for a roundtable activity. Additionally, applicants will participate in a fun team activity and provide an on-site writing sample.

Virtual Parent/Guardian Interview: You will meet with a member of the Admissions or Administration teams via Zoom. The interview is a wonderful opportunity for us to learn more about your child and family. Please come prepared to ask any questions about Collegiate and have a 30 minute virtual conversation about your interest in Collegiate and your hopes and dreams for your child's educational journey.

Please note: We encourage you to submit an application at your earliest convenience. While applications will be accepted until the November 15 deadline, the required appointments for in-person applicant visits and virtual parent interviews may be subject to an appointment waitlist after the available appointments have been filled.

Optional in-person Parent Tours: Parents/guardians who have submitted applications are invited to join us for an optional group tour. Visits are offered by appointment only. This is a facility tour that will provide you with an opportunity to see how a boy grows up in a K-12 school, under one roof. Please allow approximately one hour for your visit. Please check on your application status to confirm that the application is complete. The file must be completed by January 6, 2025, for the applicant to be considered for admission. We notify families of the admission decision in mid-February.
