Public Forum Debaters Reach Finals at Tournament of Champions

Unexpectedly present, rhetorically eloquent, and cogent in argument, our Public Forum duo made the final rounds at the crowning national debate event, the Tournament of Champions held at University of Kentucky in early May.

 






Finding a Sense of Purpose—William Damon at Collegiate

As part of our ongoing community-wide discussion of values, Collegiate invited Stanford professor, acclaimed scholar of human development, and author William Damon to speak to and with our boys and with parents. During the day, students had the opportunity to hear him speak and to engage him in conversation about his research into the finding of or determining a purpose for your life, its definition and importance, and the ramifications of either not having a purpose or of having too narrow a focus.






Poet and Memoirist Mark Doty This Year’s Steel Lecturer

Seven volumes of poetry and three memoirs have flowed from the mind and pen of Mark Doty; this year, the award-winning poet was the Steel honoree and gave the Steel lecture to the Upper School.
